Welcome Your Teams Back In-Person with Team Building Events

With the COVID-19 pandemic on the downswing, our “new normal” is slowly returning to good old-fashioned normal. After a long 2+ years, we are finally seeing the much-anticipated return to in-person events and meetings. It’s time to put the sweatpants away, dust off our social skills, and rejoice as we finally get back to in-person business.

Benefits of In-Person Meetings

The pandemic has been extremely isolating for many workers, leading to increased rates of depression and lower productivity. Here are some of the top benefits of in-person meetings:

Improved Focus

We all learned how hard it was to focus in virtual meetings when the UPS man was ringing the doorbell, the dog was barking, the baby was crying, and the TV was blaring.

In-person meetings take away the distractions of working from home and allow employees to gather in a professional and calm setting to focus on the task at hand.

Human Connection is Paramount

Although many companies hosted Zoom happy hours and virtual breakaway sessions during the pandemic to get their teams to bond and connect, there’s nothing quite like in-person meetings to foster authentic relationships. When your team is truly connected, the synergy of your entire workplace is enhanced, having a positive effect on productivity. When teams are truly comfortable with one another, they’ll be less afraid to ask questions, give their input, and collaborate producing innovative ideas for your company.

Body Language: Interpret Nonverbal Cues

There have been many articles written about this subject. This article from Indeed.com says it best: “Sometimes, the most crucial information isn’t communicated through words. Meeting with people face to face allows you to interpret micro-behaviors such as body language, facial expressions and eye contact that can help you gauge how interested other people are in the conversation and give you insight into how they may be feeling. You can use these nonverbal cues to guide your responses and conversation. For example, if you’re in a meeting with a client who keeps checking the time on their watch, you may choose to use a more exciting tone or change the topic to recapture their attention.”
